Upon entering our office, our receptionists will offer you a warm welcome, as if you are a member of our family. We will invite you to have a seat in our relaxing waiting area, and will request that you complete our patient forms if you have not already done so through Online Forms via the New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on why you are seeking care in our office. In addition, documents found here will provide you with a review of our policies, procedures, and expectations for new patients.
After your intake paperwork has been completed, you will have a private consultation with Dr. Chwojdak to discuss your health-related issues, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Chwojdak to learn more about you, your condition(s), and your expectations, to determine how chiropractic care can help you meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Chwojdak will perform a complete chiropractic examination, testing your nerve stress with Full Spine Thermography and sEMG computerized scans. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. If Dr. Chwojdak recommends further outside testing, you will be alerted at your first visit.
Static surface electromyography, or sEMG, measures the electrical activity of the weight-bearing muscles parallel to the spine. sEMG effectively - and scientifically - measures the muscular response to subluxations in the spine. It also provides indicators of muscular compensation patterns for various disorders of the spine. Measurements are taken to determine the muscle tension on both e the right and left sides of the spine, and added together they form an EP, or ElectroPhysiological, Stress Score. This score shows fatigue or overcompensation in the muscles and can be used to track your progress through treatment - as your spine is treated for subluxations, your EP Stress Score may grow, but when measured over time, it will decrease as your body begins to heal. sEMG technology is a non-invasive, safe, fast, and simple way to evaluate spinal health.
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Chwojdak will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions, including:
After reviewing your health history, goals, examining your spine, and if necessary, viewing X-rays or MRI, Dr. Chwojdak will fully discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with additional providers. Dr. Chwojdak will then develop a precisely-tailored treatment and wellness program just for you and your needs.
At the conclusion of your initial examination, you can then choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns and questions about the different styles and techniques of treatment at any time.
Prior to the conclusion of your initial visit, the doctor will suggest a wellness routine to incorporate outside of, but in conjunction with, treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, activities or positions to avoid, and at-home exercises or stretches. If you desire, our wellness team will also work with you to establish healthy habits and routines within your current lifestyle. Every patient comes to us with a unique lifestyle and set of concerns, so Dr. Chwojdak takes the time to create and constantly adjust a personalized wellness plan. The purpose of each wellness program is for you to achieve a full, healthy life, with good spinal alignment, healthful diet, sufficient exercise, and a positive, healthy mentality.
